I'm a seasoned corporate entrepreneur with proven track record and deep experience delivering transformational change projects and programmes within large enterprises, particularly digital channels.
Recently I've brought my entrepreneurial experience to enterprises such as Nationwide Building Society, Royal Bank of Scotland, Reed Exhibitions and First Data.
I'm a wildcard: I finished University then founded a dotcom startup, raised $1m and proceeded to spend my twenties building and selling a host of successful digital products and services. Therefore I am thoroughly experienced in delivery, strategy, prioritisation and getting things done, on time, on budget and managing stakeholders from board level down.
I typically work in a management, delivery or advisory role, usually in IT or Digital environments, helping companies harness technology, identify opportunities and exploit them. I'm fully aware of the realities of working in regulated environments subject to complex governance, compliance and risk challenges.
I've managed the multi-million pound budgets of my own companies (including an eight-figure acquisition) and most recently £50m for RBS and diverse international teams of 100s.
I am a current programmer. My long standing preference is PHP/MySQL on the LAMP stack but I'm familiar with .net/MSSQL. I've created apps for iOS and Android (just personally) and I recently coded a system to hook into Amazon S3's systems. I've authored many online services that have reliably supported millions of users. These active skills are very useful for managing and interacting with onshore and offshore development teams -- as I can get into the detail if necessary.
I'm also a blogger:
- I'm founder and editor of Mobile Industry Review, which provides news and perspective to tens of thousands of executives
- I'm co-founder of the 361 Mobile Podcast, now in it's 10th Season, it has tens of thousands of listeners
Drop me a note! I'm usually quick with LinkedIn.

Conceived and launched three online TV channels to extend exhibition reach beyond the show week From July 2010 to May 2013 (2 years 11 months) Co-Founder @ Provides Eventscope Online Networking services to conference and event companies.
I established this company to address a key problem I'd always come across at events: Finding the right people to meet, easily and effectively.
Event organisers rarely want to part with their contact list -- this is viewed as business confidential. However as a paying attendee I had an expectation that I should be able to at least see who was attending and perhaps send them a message prior, during or after the event.
I worked out a process that enables the event organiser to retain the control the need over their data, whilst enabling attendees to view key portions of the data (Firstname, Lastname, Company name, Job title). Further, if you found someone you wanted to connect with, you could use a form to immediately send them a message.
Event organisers loved it. Eventscope has since provided networking facilities for thousands of events.
I programmed the first two versions of Eventscope myself before handing it over to a dedicated development team. I really, really valued the ability to be in a client meeting at 10am receiving feedback on the product and then being able to actually code that update and then have it deployed for testing by 5pm.
