Sr. SDET @ From November 2013 to Present (2 years 2 months) Sr. SDET @ First SDET at a fast-paced mid-level startup. Write scripts to generate load testing profiles, perform load tests, design and implement test plans for multiple projects, and help shape Moz test strategy. Improve the recruiting and interview process for SDETs. Work with many different languages and technologies, including Ruby, RoR, Python, Redis (and Qless), Java, both SQL and NoSQL backends and more. Set up continuous integration with Travis CI. Test the full stack, from front end to back end. Recognize business risks, understand the schedule, and prioritize testing efforts accordingly. From June 2012 to August 2013 (1 year 3 months) SDE-T @ Test new functionality using a mix of exploratory, scripted manual, and automated testing for multiple products, selecting a strategy balancing my total workload, the project schedule, the need for maintainability, and business risks. Participate in a multi-disciplinary team using SCRUM. Design and implement an automated test harness with ASP MVC, C#, and T-SQL. Maintain and extend this harness as needed, including adding a framework to create a simple domain-specific language for UI testing, so a developer can quickly enable a non-developer to write maintainable UI tests in a human-readable language. From May 2010 to May 2012 (2 years 1 month) SDET at Microsoft @ Develop and maintain Office Communicator performance tests and their test infrastructure. Refactor existing tests and push for process changes to increase test effectiveness and reduce impacts to the testing schedule due to UI instability. From March 2009 to March 2010 (1 year 1 month) Software Development Engineer in Test @ Maintain more than 30 test machines, analyze key sets of lab results for performance regressions daily, develop internal tools for reporting using SQL and C#, file bugs, reduce them, and push for their appropriate resolution. From November 2007 to January 2009 (1 year 3 months) SDET at Microsoft @ Sole tester on a multi-disciplinary agile team using SCRUM to develop a new version of an engine to manage bandwidth thresholding for Microsoft's Automatic Update service. Gather test requirements, create a data-driven test harness using Team Foundation Server (C#) and SQL, and document the created test infrastructure for future use and development. Plan, implement, execute, and report results of all tests, using this test harness for automation. Within two months I was able to provide a full test framework and test suite to compare the old version of the engine to the new version and demonstrate both higher quality and greater maintainability of the new engine. From November 2006 to November 2007 (1 year 1 month) SDET at Microsoft @ Maintain an old automated suite of network tests for the Internet Explorer team, including updating deprecated function calls, using a static test tool to detect code quality issues. Ended up refactoring the code to 1/3rd its previous size to increase maintainability. From June 2005 to January 2006 (8 months) Software Development Intern @ Internship at a very early-stage Seattle startup (under 10 employees). Develop administrative tools in C# using ASP .NET with a T-SQL backend, perform manual testing on-site, create test plans for overseas testing. From August 2004 to February 2005 (7 months) Undergraduate Research Assistant @ Wrote functionality for a tool for displaying and interpolating images of people based off of research data gathered from 3D scans, using C++ and OpenGL. From March 2004 to June 2004 (4 months)
