📖 Summary
I'm a global entrepreneur who loves building innovative businesses with inspirational people. I've already demonstrated drive, innovation and adaptability; having founded several successful businesses on different continents and in unrelated sectors. In recent years I'm proud to have received recognition from some respected organisations. I've been named Entrepreneur of the Year in the UK by Ernst & Young, the Guardian, TechCrunch and the European Tech Tour Association amongst others. I founded Wonga.com, an online and mobile lender and technology company with backing from some of the world's top VCs.We have provided over 10 million small, short-term loans to both individuals and small businesses and our automated, real-time risk and decision systems leave traditional lenders eating dust whilst maintaining industry-leading levels of customer satisfaction. Wonga's mission is to responsibly provide a customer-friendly alternative to slow, rigid and long-term sources of credit. That means providing completely transparent pricing, using our sophisticated decision technology to ensure we only lend to credit-worthy individuals and giving applicants unique control over the exact size, length and cost of their loan. Prior to creating Wonga, I was founder and CEO of Supply Chain Connect Ltd. With offices in the UK and US, the company serviced over 250 blue chip industrial customers and was acquired by ChemConnect in 2005. I grew up in South Africa and Israel. Following business school, I got involved financing tech start ups and, whilst helping entrepreneurs turn their ideas into reality, I was inspired to switch roles. I work and travel a lot but I also enjoy an active lifestyle including marathon running, sea kayaking and skiing.
