Fire Protection Engineering Designer @ As a fire protection engineering designer with McKinstry, I oversee the sprinkler system design for commercial building tenant improvements. This includes surveying existing sprinkler systems, redesigning the sprinkler systems to accommodate tenant improvements while conforming to NFPA specifications, conducting hydraulic calculations to ensure the system has adequate pressure and flow, and listing the proper fittings and materials to be sent to the field. From June 2014 to Present (1 year 7 months) Fire Protection Intern @ As a fire protection intern, I reviewed numerous fire alarm, mass notification, and sprinkler system submittals for projects in Hawaii, Guam, and Korea, and ensured conformity to various NFPA, UFC, and ETL specifications. I was also introduced to performing hydrant flow tests to determine source water supply and pressure drops. Using HASS, I was able to perform hydraulic calculations to determine whether source water supply and pressures were adequate to provide for specific room occupant loads. From June 2013 to September 2013 (4 months) Electrical Engineering Draftsman Intern @ As an electrical engineering draftsman intern, I assisted in drafting lighting and power layout plans for various projects using AutoCad. I also taught myself how to utilize a program called COMcheck, which allowed me to perform lighting load calculations based on light fixture type, amount, and wattage, to ensure projects conform to the code established by the IECC and ASHRAE. In order to improve office efficiency, I developed a catalog system which stored paper copies of lighting and power plans for finished projects. From June 2011 to September 2011 (4 months)
