Edward Kim received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University in 2005 and 2006, respectively. While at Stanford, he was a member of the VLF (Very Low Frequency) Laboratory, where he researched man-made and naturally occurring low frequency electromagnetic wave propagation throughout the Earth's upper atmosphere.
After graduating, he worked as a Senior Project Engineer at Volkswagen Group of America Electronics Research Lab, where he led research and development for cloud-based navigation and speech recognition systems for Volkswagen and Audi.
In 2008, he joined the YCombinator program and started Picwing.com, which specializes in making it easy to send printed photos to loved ones. Picwing was acquired in 2011.
Edward is also very active in the Android community as an independent developer, having developed award-winning apps such as Car Locator.
He is currently the CTO of ZenPayroll, Inc.

Acquired in 2011. From July 2008 to August 2011 (3 years 2 months) Senior Project Engineer @ Led the Networked Speech Recognition team within Audi and Volkswagen, utilizing cloud-based computing for better speech recognition capabilities within the vehicle, a feature now available in Audi vehicles.
Oversaw the initial concept, specification, design, and software development of "Picture Navigation", a feature now available on Volkswagen navigation systems.
Sponsored, funded, and was the liaison for collaborative university research at UC Berkeley and Stanford University. From August 2006 to July 2008 (2 years) Research Assistant @ Designed, wrote and supported hardware and software for an autonomous data acquisition system. System is currently deployed in all 7 continents and is the primary instrument for data acquisition by the Stanford VLF research group.
Conducted experimental and theoretical research on VLF (Very Low Frequency) electromagnetic wave propagation.
