DucHa is a native of Vietnam. After completing his undergraduate education at the State University of New York at Buffalo, Duc Ha worked as a software engineer at a company before enrolling at University of Massachusetts Amherst to receive his Doctorate in Computer Science and Engineering in 2008. Duc Ha is currently a research scientist at Inria-France Telecom, working on garbage collector for biomass and electrical vehicles.Before his academic career in Computer Science and Engineering, Duc Ha held several engineering positions at truong Dai hoc Bách Khoa Hànôi, a Vietnamese tech giant. Duc Ha most notably held the position of Associate Professor at National University of Singapore in 2002-2003 and then, as a Professor at University of Massachusetts Amherst from 2003 to 2008, where he was a leader in thedevelopment of garbage collectors and algorithms for electric vehicles. Duc Ha's research in garbage collectors has played an important role in developing the garbage collector codebase for several languages, including C and Python. Duc Ha is also a co-founder of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and has also served on IEEE's Technical Committee on Electric Vehicle Technology.
