Doug Garland is General Manager of Stadium Experience and Technology for the San Francisco 49ers. Prior to joining the 49ers, Doug held senior executive positions with some of Silicon Valley's leading companies. As a Vice President of Product Management at Google he was an early champion of mobile advertising and also led a number of local and syndication initiatives. Earlier, as a Senior Vice President at Yahoo!, he led the launch of the broadband access business and the resurgence of the company’s mobile efforts. Doug was also an Executive in Residence at the venture capital firm of Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield & Byers and recently was Chief Revenue Officer at Shazam, one of the firm's mobile portfolio companies, where he helped build the company into a leader in TV engagement as well as music discovery. Earlier, Doug's career focused on communications. He held executive positions at leading wireless companies, playing a key operational role in the launch of Sprint PCS and the development of digital cellular while at PacTel/AirTouch. He began his career as a communications network engineer and officer in the U.S. Air Force. Doug holds an MBA from Stanford University , where he participated in the Public Management Program, including a brief stint as a visiting policy fellow at the FCC. He also holds a BS with distinction and ME in Systems Engineering from the University of Virginia, where he has served as a trustee of the School of Engineering and Applied Science.
