📖 Summary
Principal software engineer at Cisco Systems, with a technical leader role. Software design and development have been my passion since high school, when developing in Turbo Pascal on Dos and designing databases with DBase, was the big thing. I enjoy thinking about how to solve daily problems with software solutions, and evaluating new technologies to improve solutions. With more than 15 years of experience in professional software development, I have designed and implemented software in 3 major business domains: PDM/PLM, Network Security and currently Digital TV applications at Cisco. Experienced in E2E systems (Java Stack, LAMP stack, MEAN stack) and best software development practices by adopting Lean Agile principles. I believe in simple, clean, and maintainable solution to achieve Agile promises in frequently delivering working software. Strong projects and teams leadership to transform customers vision into proof of concept and lay the foundations for products development. I have been leading teams, providing hands-on programming expertise in dominant technologies and best practices. Lately my interest and involvement is in the cloud services (Cloud DVR, Middleware in the cloud, migration of legacy solutions into cloud stacks), HTML5 applications for mobile devices and IP based devices (TVs, STBs, etc...). My specialties order by chronological hands on: Programming Languages: JavaScript, Java, PHP, Python Web Technologies: HTML/HTML5, CSS/CSS3, JQuery, JSON, Ajax, Canvas. AngularJS, Bootstrap, JQueryUI Mobile Technologies: PhoneGap, Single page web apps, JQuery Mobile, Android. UI Technologies: Swing, Java2D, JavaFX, Silverlight, QT. Server Side Technologies: Node, Java Servlets, Apache CXF, JDBC, RMI DBs: Mongo, Redis, MySQL, Postgres, Oracle, SQL Server. TDD: QUnit, EasyMock, PowerMock, Fit with Fitness Operating Systems: Linux, Mac, WindowsPrincipal Software Engineer @ Design and development of new ideas to prototype proof of concepts for digital TV solutions. Working with HTML5/Android to deliver application on IP set top boxes, hand held devices, and IP TVs. Working with cloud technologies: (nodejs, redis, mongo) to implement services delivery platforms for connecting devices within the home and outside the home. Expert in adopting agile lean development practices within teams (scrum, kanban). From August 2012 to Present (3 years 5 months) Principal Software Engineer @ 2010-2012: Working on strategic R&D projects to design cloud based services for connected homes. Design and implementation of a service delivery platform for Cox Communications to expose restful TV APIs that allow content sharing, push model for data and notifications, resources optimizations, data cashing and services discovery. 2009-2010: Worked on R&D projects for next generation RUI Technologies driven by Cox Communications. Design and developed applications to target multiple devices (IP-STBs, iPAD, iPhone, Andorid tablets and phones, IP-TVs) based on HTML5/CSS3. 2007-2009: Responsible to work on critical projects delivered on time and budget to DirectTV. Design and Implemented features for the Java Electronic Program Guide deployed to millions of Set Top Boxes of DirectTV customers. Responsible to establish new development technologies based on TDD to ensure high quality solutions for high paying customers. Working with local teams and teams distributed across sites. From January 2007 to August 2012 (5 years 8 months) Senior Software Engineer @ I was working as a Senior Software Engineer with the SEM (Security Event Manager) team. I was developing a product that can be described as a real time system that promptly reacts to critical network security events. The solution has been designed with cutting edge software techniques to handle data storage and processing. Mainly responsible to design and develop new features driven by network security requirements as well as refactoring existing implementations to generalize components in the client framework. Designed and develop the printing framework, cut-copy-paste functionalities, business object cloning, events notification module. Refactored the code to support edit sensitive apply, dynamic popup menus, etc... Worked daily with java, swing, java patterns, sockets, multithreading and synchronization. From October 2005 to January 2007 (1 year 4 months) Advanced Software Engineer @ I was working on a PDM/PLM product with responsibilities for product conceptualization, design and implementation. The product is well known on the PLM industries since early 80’ and it is currently wide used by automobile and aerospace companies (Ford, GM, Pratt & Whitney, Boeing, etc...). I worked with teams distributed across US and European sites. Most of the work I have been focused on was design and developed the Change Management module part of the client application. I also participated in the design evolution for the migration from 2-tiers architecture to a J2EE multi-tiered architecture. I worked daily with: Java, Swing, JNI, Corba, C++, XML, Servlets and EJBs. From November 1999 to October 2005 (6 years) Laurea @ From 1998 to 1998 (less than a year) Master's degree, Information Technology Engineering @ University of Padua From 1992 to 1998 Diego Sacchetto is skilled in: Agile Methodologies, Java, REST, Design Patterns, OOP, Scrum, Software Engineering, Java Enterprise Edition, JavaScript, XML, Maven, Python, Architecture, Web Applications, Ant
