About Diana Vargas

Diana Vargas started out in the creative arts at an early age. She has always been particularly interested in the creative process and was always doingodling and struggling to make ill-fitting drawings intoomething beautiful. Starting out as a non-artist, Diana Vargas learned the ropes of photo printing and web development while working at a small web design company. In 2002, Diana Vargas co-founded CortoCircuito Latino Shorts Film Festival - an annual film festival located in the heart of Havana, Cuba - where she served as Artistic Director. In 2007, she relocated to New York City and began working as a Producer at CUNY TV. During her time at CUNY TV, Diana Vargas produced programming for a variety of platforms including television, radio, and website. In 2010, she relocated back to Cuba and began working as an Artistic Director at Havana Film Festival New York - HFFNY. Her program features art screenings, topical talks, and forums that focus on narrative cinema from around the world. Diana Vargas’s work has been exhibited in various venues throughout the United States and internationally. In2014, she was named the Producer of the Year by the Broadcast Journalism Center in New York City and received a multitude of other accolades. Diana Vargas has since retired from her position at CUNY TV and now lives in Cuba.
