Developed features for an automation tool in Ruby such as automatic versioning of services, integration of external modules, and a callback API for Bamboo. From May 2014 to May 2015 (1 year 1 month) Mathematics Workshop Facilitator @ The primary purpose of a mathematics workshop is to provide students extra time outside of lectures to solve problems. By solving different problems, students get exposed to different ways that concepts can be applied. As a result, mathematics workshops increase problem solving skills, as well as the pass rate in Calculus and other classes.
Throughout my time as a mathematics workshop facilitator for the math department, I facilitated workshops such as Pre-Calculus, Calculus, and Calculus II. I helped students solve relevant problems, thereby increasing their pass rates in lecture. From August 2011 to May 2014 (2 years 10 months) Developer Intern @ Developed and improved features for an internal Hacker News clone website (GAP IT's Hackernews) using Ruby on Rails.
Patched registration, login, counting, and commenting portions of the internal Hacker News clone website, in Ruby.
Eliminated bugs in the authentication and registration portion of the website. Also ensured that the votes and comments section worked correctly.
Redesigned the user-interface of the website using CSS, and made it relevant to IT.
Configured a FreeNAS server by wiring together two NICs (network interface controllers) and creating a LACP (link aggregation control protocol) to double the bandwidth and provide statistics about data. From July 2013 to August 2013 (2 months) Mobile Engineer Intern @ Developed an embedded messaging system for the Booksmart app in PHP. The messaging system allows users to send messages directly from the Booksmart app.
Designed the MySQL database schema to provide back-end support for the Booksmart app.
Wrote SQL queries to fetch the messages between two users, and populated the messages in the app. From February 2013 to June 2013 (5 months) Software Engineer Intern @ Replaced the Java hibernate framework for specific SQL queries with JDBC to improve clients’ system performance, simplify code, create a stable platform, and align the code to be more consistent with client standards.
