Dhirendra Gupta has a B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur and an M.Tech in Solar Energy from SununGo Power Private Limited. He started his career in 2008 as a Solar Engineer (Trainee) at Crompton Greaves-Bhopal.

Dhirendra Gupta learned solar energy technology from his RGPV,Bhopal (MP) masters in 2008. After a few months of training, he passed his final exam and became a proficient solar energy technologist. Gupta then worked at RGPV,Bhopal (MP) as an energy engineer from January 2010 to January 2016. During his residence time at RGPV,Bhopal, Gupta completed his doctoral thesis in Solar Energy Technology, titled "Solar Energy Technology for Power Plants and Renewable Energy Systems - A Review". The main findings of the thesis are that solar energy technology has great potential for powering renewable energy systems, as well as offering environmental benefits. Gupta is confident that solar energy technology can play a significant role in sustainable energy systems, and has plans to further his education and become a full-time scientist with a career in solar energy technology.
