I am a scientist by training, recruited by NASA & Judson University, to work on a research team to determined different growth rates of E. coli in an oxygenated environment compared with a deoxygenated environment. While working for NASA & Judson, I also experimented with my entrepreneurial talents by founding an internet sales company that marketed and sold goods for a top-branded retail company. I then started to pursue medical school, but instead, stumbled upon one of my passions, serving as a medical missionary in Congo, Africa where I traveled around the jungles setting up medical clinics to provide care to those in need.
After selling my company, I then joined Untied Business Media/PRNewswire, a global media, communications, marketing and analytics provider, where I helped build, lead, and grow several entrepreneurial product offerings. After multiple successful product launches, I left to become a Partner with Gallup Consulting, where I was responsible for leading the healthcare consulting for the Midwest, Southwestern, and Pacific divisions.
After growing the healthcare division for Gallup, I join one of my clients, Vanguard Health System (now Tenet Healthcare). During my tenure, I served as the systems Chief Talent/Learning Officer, Chief Experience Officer & Chief Marketing Officer. I was part of the system leadership team that grew VHS from 15 hospitals to 30, 18,000 employees to 45,000, and $2.8 BN in rev to 6.5+ BN…and then part of the team that sold VHS to Tenet, to create one of the largest healthcare system. I committed to stay on for a short time after the acquisition to help support the cultural integration. After the Vanguard/Tenet acquisition, I joined Cancer Treatment Centers of America® and served as their Chief Talent Officer & Chief Strategy Officer.
