📖 Summary
Student @ Three months of coding, learning, and networking in Berlin. An opportunity to concentrate on updating existing skills, and to explore and learn new ways of doing things. All shared with like- minded experienced developers coming from all over the world. My key areas of focus on the retreat were: • JavaScript (Node.js / Express.js / AngularJS / WebSockets / WebRTC) • Functional programming (Clojure / Haskell / JavaScript) • Classical computer science (SICP / Scheme / algorithm design) • Application architecture (AOSA study groups / presentations / roundtables) • NoSQL (MongoDB / Neo4J) • TDD / BDD (Mocha / Jasmine / Protractor) • DevOps (Puppet / Chef / Docker / Cloud deployment / Continuous delivery) Post-course I stayed on in Berlin to work on a number of projects, returning to the UK December 2014 From May 2014 to December 2014 (8 months) Developer @ Software consultancy specialising in logistics management software whose core product line was licensed to many of the leading logistics companies across the UK and Europe. In addition to the main product line I was involved in providing custom extensions, greenfield development and 24 hour support. Core technologies: • C++ (Windows / MFC / Winsock / Boost / STL / Templates) • Java (Servlet / JSP / Spring) • .NET (C# / WinForms) • Apache (Web Server / Tomcat) Applications delivered: GPS Web interface (Java / XML) for a third-party custom GPS tracking device. The interface was developed in-part in-tandem with the third-party enabling us to ensure it provided the features required by our client business. EDI Web interface to enable business-to-business order transactions implemented in Java & XML. Initially requested by a single customer but easily rolled out subsequently owing to the custom schema and XSL translation stage I designed into the product. ESP A Gantt chart visual planning application providing planners with far greater oversight than they previously had. This Windows desktop networked client-server application enabled just a handful of planners to do the work of a team with real-time visibility. From 1999 to 2007 (8 years) Master of Science (MSc), Games Software Development @ Sheffield Hallam University From 2010 to 2011 David Lusby is skilled in: Software Development, HTML, JavaScript, Node.js, Java, C++, C#, NoSQL, SQL, DevOps, Test Driven Development, Assembly Language, DirectX, OpenGL, Agile Methodologies, Continuous Delivery, Project Management
