This is both an inward and outward looking role which seeks to ensure that information is being utilised to best assist the company to achieve its stated goals as well as looking at external opportunities to both further enhance our IT offering as well as grow the business through partnerships, mergers and acquisitions. As CTO/CIO I have been responsible for ensuring the smooth roll out our services to new regions whilst ensuring that we continue to focus on catering for the amazing growth within existing regions. As a senior manager within the organisation this requires the ability to sometimes look outside the IT department and be able to positively contribute to many different areas to drive the business forward. This involves a deep understanding of underlying technologies, the business itself as well as the environment within which the business operates (which includes the market, risk and regulatory requirements amongst other things) as well as the strategy of the business in order to ensure that we are best utilising technology to move in the desired direction as efficiently and quickly as is reasonably possible. Key to this role has been the ability to very quickly ensure that we have the knowledge necessary to respond to opportunities and then simply "get things done". This responsiveness has given the company a very important competitive advantage and has been one of the foundations to its continuing success. I believe that the proof is very much in the pudding and the success of OzForex, being highly technology oriented and having grown from a very small operation to a very successful global operation which continues to grow and attract very healthy interest from the potential clients and the marketplace is testament to my abilities. These are abilities that can be adapted and applied to any business to ensure that information technology is key component to driving success.
