📖 Summary
My experience is mostly in web application back ends ranging from timekeeping to financial processing. I've worked in a wide variety of languages, but prefer Python, strongly. I know my way around meta classes, I know how to craft good SQL statements, I like to write the tests first when feasible, I don't mind reading the source code or the docs, and people ask me stuff at work. Stuff I've worked with: Python, Django, PostgreSQL, JavaScript, Java, TDD, Riak, Redis, Mercurial, PHP, MySQL, HTML/CSS,VP @ From January 2013 to Present (3 years) San Francisco Bay AreaDirector of Engineering @ I primarily do Python/Django development, but I also get pulled into meetings on architecture, interview potential hires, and do system administration on our EC2 instances. Our engineers are mostly generalists, and I'm no exception. While I've not built out a large project in Node.js yet (boo), I'm still pretty knowledgeable about JavaScript (and CSS.) Using: Python, Django, PostgreSQL, Redis, Riak, memcached, EC2, Mercurial and a host of Python apps. We use a SCRUM process and I try to engage in pair programming when it fits the workflow. From July 2010 to January 2013 (2 years 7 months) Lead Developer @ Gave this non-profit a much needed web presence fairly quickly. We had to pull in a lot of disparate media data for display and dissemination in a short amount of time, along with putting up a blog/CMS. Used: Python, Django, PostgreSQL, nginx, memcached, HTML, JavaScript, jQuery, AJAX, etc. From February 2010 to January 2011 (1 year) Corpus Christi, Texas AreaDeveloper @ I helped design and implement enterprise business logic which matched lenders/services with customers as part of an eCommerce engine which handled millions of transactions. I also wrote a flexible service interface for passing data to our dozens of customers in real time. In addition I was brought in to help struggling projects on more than one occasion. I helped bring testing to the culture and helped upgrade the QA department by rotating in engineers. Used Java, Spring, Tomcat, PHP, MySQL, etc. From January 2008 to February 2010 (2 years 2 months) Lead Developer @ I was the lead engineer on a time clock product which also exported to programs like Paychex. I worked on the web interface, designed the system for updating our hardware in the field, read and implemented labor law logic for both the US and Canada and maintained the PyGTK time clock application. Used: Python, PHP, MySQL, HTML, JavaScript, etc. From May 2004 to January 2008 (3 years 9 months) Dan Ostrowski is skilled in: Python, Django, JavaScript, Riak, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Java, PHP, Redis, jQuery, nginx, Mercurial, Apache, RightJS, Nginx
