As a member of the Australian leadership team, I contributed to all APAC strategic discussions and initiatives, including HR and HSE, and worked with US executives on development and divestment options for the APAC business. MAJOR PROJECTS Project Gunnel, Western Australia: As Chairman and Study Manager, managed this JV with Nippon Steel, Sumitomo, Sojitz Australia and Reedy Lagoon to undertake a pre-feasibility study of the 400mt Yerecoin Magnetite Resource in Western Australia to determine the viability of the project. From April 2013 to June 2014 (1 year 3 months) Perth, AustraliaPresident & Executive Director - Cliffs Natural Resources Exploration Mongolia @ I established all facets of this holding subsidiary to develop an exploration portfolio in Mongolia which included the Urkhut Copper-Nickel project (JV with Universal Resources) and established a strategic alliance with BML, a leading Mongolian business advisory. From April 2011 to June 2014 (3 years 3 months) MongoliaGeneral Manager - Asia Pacific Exploration @ I established a new exploration business unit and project portfolio through strategic alliances, greenfield farm-ins and equity investments in Australia, Mongolia and Fiji with an annual commitment of more than $25m. This enabled the company to secure resource options with limited liability, provided commodity diversity and ensured low cost access to future operations. I also forged and led a diverse global team of resource professionals to rapidly and accurately evaluate projects and investment opportunities by developing standard evaluation tools and financial models. MAJOR PROJECTS Universal Resources Copper Joint Venture, Mongolia: Established to explore the Urkhut copper and nickel project in south western Mongolia. Project Gunnel (Magnetite): The acquisition of the Yerecoin deposit from Atlas Iron was negotiated as a direct sale and purchase agreement by Cliffs at the request of Sojitz prior to the formation of the Project Gunnel joint venture. West Rock SAA, APAC: Negotiated the strategic alliance agreement with junior explorer West Rock to fund approved greenfields exploration projects for copper, manganese and other base metals. Projects were evaluated in Kazakhstan and Australia, with the initial investment made in the Borroloola Copper / Manganese Project. Stanley Manganese Joint Venture with Ausquest, WA: I was the company’s Non-Executive Director on the Ausquest Board. Interest in the Stanley greenfields manganese project in Western Australia and other exploration projects was acquired by Cliffs through a $26m direct equity investment in Ausquest. Currawong Coal As Executive Director of Currawong Coal, led the Eastern Australian Coal Exploration team, and led the negotiations for the divestment of the tenements to Fox Resources. Crystalbrook / Brothers Mining Joint Venture: A staged coal mining farm-in enabled Cliffs to fund progressive exploration for up to 75% interest in the venture with limited liability for continued funding on exit. From April 2010 to April 2013 (3 years 1 month) Non-Executive Director @ An exploration company targeting new deposits and mineral provinces with major ore potential and the ability to significantly enhance shareholder wealth. Holding 2,800 km² of exploration title, the company explored in Australia, Peru and West Africa for magmatic nickel-copper-platinum group element sulphides, large porphyry copper and iron oxide-copper-gold, lode-style gold and stratabound manganese. Most were greenfield projects.
