💼 Past Experience

Cory Scott has experience in the field of security and privacy. He was a security consultant and acting chief security officer at Securify from 2000 toJanuary 2002. He also was a senior manager and architecture and operations manager at Peapod from1999 to2000. Cory also worked as a head of security and product privacy officer at Google fromMarch 2019 to March 2020, and as a security and privacy advisor at LinkedIn from February 2013 to March 2019. Cory is currently tackling exciting challenges around building trustworthy products where privacy and security is top of mind for our customers and members, while continuing to learn how to build great security teams.

🎓 Education

Cory Scott is a law graduate who spent most of his free time exploring Chicago's history and culture. He then turned to education, completing a BA in Law from the University of Chicago in 1995. Scott then spent two years as a law clerk before moving on to a Masters in Linguistics from the University of Chicago in 1999.Scott then began his legal career as an Legal Analyst with the Washington, D.C. office of the law firm Paul, Weiss, Rucker, & McAuliffe. He then moved to the Chicago office of the same law firm in 2003, where he became a Partner.In his work with the law firm, Scott focused on appellate and Supreme Court litigation. He also taught law school law students about appellate and Supreme Courtcases. As a Professor at the Law School, Scott also taught legal writing and appellate law. In addition to his work as a Professor at the Law School, Scott is also a Judge on the Cook County Circuit Court.Outside of his work as a Professor and Judge, Cory Scott is active in the legal community. He has served as President of the National Lawyer's Association (NLA), Chairman of the National Fair Housing Coalition, and was a Guest Lecturer at the Yale Law School. In addition, he has also been a founding member of the Illinois Trial Advocates Association and the Chicago Trial Lawyers’ Association.In recent years, Cory Scott has become known as a John Grisham Judge. He has been a Judge on the Cook County Circuit Court and has been a guest lecturer at the Yale Law School.

Cory Scott has extensive experience conducting security-related consulting engagements, bothduring his previous roles at Google and at Securify.
