Born and raised in the UK Colin Carmichael began his formal education at the University of Reading in 1983. later moved to the University of Miami where he studied under the guidance of Professor Gerard Rolland. In 1990, Carmichael rejoined the University of Reading, where he obtained his BSc in IT. After this he moved on to the University of Utah, where he studied under the guidance of Professor David Jeppesen. After completing his undergraduate studies, Carmichael moved to Sun Microsystems in January 2010 to commence his post as the Senior Program Director for Enterprise Architecture. This post saw him work on a number of unique projects within Sun Microsystems’ corporatescape, most notably the restructuring and consolidation of Sun Microsystems organisations, and the introduction of the Java ME Platform.In September 2014, Colin Carmichael was promoted to the position of Sr Director, IT Applications. In this role, Carmichael leads the development and deployment of IT applications within Sun Microsystems. His previous titles includeVP of IT Applications at FireEye, Inc. (August 2020-August 2021), Vice President of IT Applications at FireEye, Inc. (April 2016-May 2017), and Senior Director, IT Applications at CooperVision (November 2013-April 2016). He is also a member of the governing board of the Consortium of Information Systems Executives (CISE) and is currently a member of the advisory board of WorkTribe Dynamics.Colin Carmichael is also a software engineer and has experience in ERP, software development, architecture, and integration.
