About Christophe J.

📖 Summary

I'm a passionate full stack iOS software developer (iPhone and iPad). My expertise is software development, software design and user experience (UX). I care very deeply about creating great software that delights the customer and “just works”. I put strong emphasis on following UI guidelines and best practices. But execution matters every bit as much, and I keep a laser focus in order to deliver on time. I developed and tested an internal iOS app for Riverbed employees to search, access, view and share various internal SalesForce documents. I designed, developed, tested, and successfully released CraigsAlert for iOS, a cloud-enabled mobile app that enables Craigslist users to get notified soon after postings they are interested in show up, so they don't miss on opportunities and spend less time to find what they are looking for. As Principal Software Engineer at Logitech, I designed software for iOS, and designed, developed, tested and promoted software that found its way in 100+ million copies of PC and console games. I also designed and implemented application software to go along with tens of millions of gaming mice, keyboards and headsets. I am a permanent resident (green card). Specialties: software engineering, iOS developer, mobile applications, Objective-C, Swift, multi-threading, concurrency, memory management, user experience, OOD, Python, Core Data, Xcode, JSON, Cocoa Touch, UIKit, C++, debugging, Scrum, Agile, cloud, SQLite, NoSQL, testing, GAE (Google App Engine), Git, database, iPhone, iPad, SalesForce, client-server, REST, RESTful, HTML, XML, Core Location, MapKit, encryption, RSS, HTTP, App Store, TestFlightConsultant - Software Architect - iOS / Cloud @ From February 2015 to Present (11 months) Consultant - iOS Developer @ Developed and tested RiverDoc, an internal app for Riverbed employees to access SalesForce in a secure way from their mobile device. App enables to log in to SalesForce and have various ways of displaying and searching lists of internal SalesForce documents (PDFs, word, powerpoint, etc.). Documents can be viewed and shared on the go on iPhone and iPad. Find the app on the App Store at the following link, or search the store for "riverdoc": From November 2014 to February 2015 (4 months) San Francisco Bay AreaSoftware Engineer / iOS Developer @ Created the CraigsAlert iOS app for iPhone and iPad, which enables users to create alerts and be the first to know as soon as postings they are interested in appear on Craigslist. They can browse postings and their images, share their findings with friends, and directly contact the posting's author from within the app. Defined the user experience, implemented the app, and did the testing. Co-ordinated beta testing. Created the website. Implemented a cloud server with database and client-server communication to enable background searching without having to resort to less than ideal hacks, such as keeping the location services (GPS) turned on. 52% retention rate after 2 months (versus 13% for eCommerce apps). 4.5 stars average rating. Find the app on the App Store at the following link, or search the store for "craigsalert": From January 2014 to November 2014 (11 months) San Francisco Bay AreaPrincipal Software Engineer / Team Leader @ Conceptualized new ideas related to mouse movement tracking and keyboard key presses tracking to coach users to become better gamers. Subsequently defined and presented a new gaming software strategy with the addition of this new value added software. Led and supervised a team of developers in an R&D effort to create tracking technology and presented internally. Defined and designed the complete mobile user experience for iOS and Android phones and tablets to integrate and display the new tracking technology to users, as well as enable developers to easily use mobile devices as an auxiliary screen via the new Logitech gaming app (Logitech Arx Control, now available on App Store and Google Play Store). Re-designed architecture for multiple software development kits (SDKs) from ground up. Used experience of working closely with game developers for the previous 10 years to write code that suits their specific needs. As a result integration time for developers to support Logitech gaming devices was improved from days to hours. Delegated new version of Logitech Gaming Software to India team (outsourcing effort). Wrote detailed software specification that was key in project success. Co-ordinated and guided new engineers to get up to speed. Result was a successful transition to the next version, with all requested new features and delivered on time. From April 2011 to October 2013 (2 years 7 months) San Francisco Bay AreaLead Software Engineer @ Designed and specified the new Gaming Software, working and negotiating with Product Manager and Creative Director. User feedback went from poor for the old software to very positive for the new improved software, calling it the best ever made by Logitech. Led team to do project planning, coordination and organizing of the workload, by using industry best practices and processes. Programmed multiple parts of the project as a team member. Result was a successful project, completed on time with all requested features. Launched the new Gaming Software, including the addition of the new G400 mouse, which was to replace Logitech’s best selling gaming mouse ever (3.5 million units). Mentored and trained new engineers and interns, as well as developer relations managers. From April 2009 to April 2011 (2 years 1 month) San Francisco Bay AreaSenior Software Engineer @ Implemented the Logitech GamePanel software. Analyzed and implemented performance improvements for all apps for keyboards with LCDs. Achieved a reduction from 30% to less than 1% for the YouTube app's CPU usage. Took the initiative to purchase and run a static code analyzer, sharing results with all team members to improve solidity of code against crashes, memory leaks and buffer overruns. Promoted the use of static code analyzers. As a result applets crash occurrences in the field were reduced by 50%. Invented and implemented an advanced technical solution to enable seamless use of XInput and DirectInput devices side by side. Project was selected as top candidate for patent application of all Logitech Gaming projects of that year. From April 2006 to April 2009 (3 years 1 month) San Francisco Bay AreaSoftware Engineer @ Took the initiative to design and develop the multi-platform Logitech Gaming SDKs that reduced by 80% the time required to add steering wheel support for game developers compared to the existing tools. Platforms included PC, PS3, Wii, PS2 and Gamecube. Worked on-site with 50+ game developers to add or improve steering wheel and keyboard LCD support in games. Sometimes did all the coding myself in a few days having to very quickly learn the game architectures and development environments. At other times led up to 5 engineers on site to get the job done on schedule. Percentage of games with good support went from 20% to 80%. Presented to game developers and during trade shows for increased awareness and understanding by the game development community of our development tools.
