📖 Summary
I’m a developer working passionately with designing everything between software and hardware. Every day I try to learn new things and I’m never afraid to explore new technologies. I love the phrases "Can we do better?" and "Why are we doing it this way?". My goal is to work with the best people in an attractive environment where I am allowed to learn and develop my interests. An ideal workplace is one with the employees in focus - having the equipment needed to progress and the possibility to be friends with those that you work with every day. Google's Borg system is a cluster manager that runs hundreds of thousands of jobs, from many thousands of different applications, across a number of clusters each with up to tens of thousands of machines. It supports high-availability applications with runtime features that minimize fault-recovery time, and scheduling policies that reduce the probability of correlated failures. From September 2015 to Present (3 months) Zürich Area, SwitzerlandSite Reliability Engineer @ Working to keep Bigtable running. I work with MapReduce, NoSQL, Python, Linux every day and have a lot of contact with our internal customers. My role is best described to "automate myself out of a job". At the rate we're growing we need to make sure that the system is as autonomous as possible to be able to take on new challenges. Bigtable is a distributed storage system for managing structured data that is designed to scale to a very large size: petabytes of data across thousands of commodity servers. Many projects at Google store data in Bigtable, including web indexing, Google Earth, and Google Finance. These applications place very different demands on Bigtable, both in terms of data size and latency requirements. From September 2013 to September 2015 (2 years 1 month) Master Thesis @ Worked on my thesis titled 'High-Speed Storage Encryption over Fibre Channel', testing whether persistent encryption of Fibre Channel is doable and what kind of security it provides. From February 2013 to August 2013 (7 months) CEO, Founder @ Codelead Systems produced customized software and hardware solutions for very specialized needs during my time before and at university. From February 2007 to March 2013 (6 years 2 months) Systems Engineer @ Developing a proof-of-concept to a full product. The product is a hardware assisted 10 Gbps Ethernet traffic generation powered by FPGAs and a controlling ARM processor. From June 2012 to August 2012 (3 months) Linkoping, SwedenDeveloper @ R&D, new product features. From June 2011 to August 2011 (3 months) SwedenEmbedded Developer @ Reverse engineering and development of competing product with better features and lower cost. From March 2008 to July 2010 (2 years 5 months) Embedded Developer @ Development of embedded APIs for controlling external accessories. Modification to Linux kernel to meet customer needs. From November 2008 to March 2009 (5 months) Embedded Developer @ Implementation of a custom routing algorithm for multicast in mesh networks. Majority of the work was done in the Linux kernel. Implementation of an ad-hoc filesystem on the TinyNode platform. From June 2007 to August 2008 (1 year 3 months) Network Engineer @ Planning, administration and development of servers, networks and routing. Redesigned the core network to use dynamic routing protocols, add security levels to the network (VPN, IPsec) and redundant internet connectivity. Automated server and router installs and monitoring. From June 2003 to July 2008 (5 years 2 months) M.Sc, Computer Engineering, GPA 3.5 @ Tekniska högskolan vid Linköpings universitet From 2008 to 2013 Christian Svensson is skilled in: Linux, Embedded Systems, Python, FPGA, Routing, Algorithms, VHDL, C, TCP/IP, Electronics, Operating Systems, Network Engineering, Git, Open Source, Subversion
