DHS Public Affairs Liaison to the intra-governmental working group to update OPM's 1981 standards for the public affairs classification series. From October 2014 to July 2015 (10 months) Special Projects Coordinator, Office of Communications @ Using technical expertise, innovation and progressive management, led cross-functional teams to successfully plan, launch and solve highly complex and critical agency communications projects.
Led the redesign of the internal communications office website into a dynamic and appealing channel with compelling content to engage employees across the agency. From November 2011 to October 2014 (3 years) Press Officer and Spokeswoman @ Proactive outreach to international, national and local media on citizenship and immigration programs.
Led the multifaceted communications and outreach campaign to raise awareness of assistance for victims of human trafficking and violent crimes. Expanded the campaign to reach stakeholders and media across the country. Arranged for national broadcast media to profile our officers who adjudicate applications. My work contributed to a 76% increase in one year in applications from victims of human trafficking seeking assistance.
Served as the communications lead for USCIS' military citizenship initiative. This included developing short and long-range communication plans and outreach at basic training, plus expanding the program to Latin America.
Coordinated global press coverage of the largest military naturalization ceremony in Iraq (in a war zone) and managed press coverage in Asia and Europe.
Collaborated extensively with subject matter experts and built partnerships with colleagues in government and the private sector, to include the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, on efforts to protect asylum-seekers, refugees and other displaced people.
Directed media outreach for the new naturalization test. What once generated negative comments from groups opposed to its implementation quickly became an example of a successful program built on cooperation and steady interactions with our stakeholders.
