Born in London to parents who worked in advertising, Chris Poad decided at an early age to follow the interest in technology that he had been feeling. Brought up in a technical family, both his parents were computer scientists and he soon developed an early interest in programming. After completing his A-Levels in1994, Chris Poad went on to study Computer Science at Imperial College London, where he met his future wife Jacqui, who also became his coding partner. Together, they founded their own consultancy, Margin & Beyond, in 1998.After two years of consultancy work, Chris Poad joined Southbank Consultancy as a General Manager. He then moved to Amazon in September 2015 to be responsible for Amazon’s Fulfillment by Amazon business, which spans North America. In this role, he led the development of Amazon’s intracommunication and customer service capabilities.He also has experience in Software and Video Games development, and joined Amazon in January 2009 as Director, Software & Video Games. There he led the development of Amazon’s first ever video game store, which opened in November 2009. The store was profitable from the start and grew to become one of the company’s largest areas of growth. In addition, he also led the expansion of Amazon.com’s Marketplace, which helps customers buy and sell items online.Chris Poad is a highly experienced Manager with a proven track record in developing successful businesses.
