Staff Software Engineer @ Tech Lead for Direct Messages (DM) Platform Infrastructure. The DM infrastructure comprises of several services running on large clusters in multiple data centers and handles very high read and write volume. Most recently, I led the Group DM effort, which also involved creating a whole new API for DMs. Previously worked on the Tweet Service which serves all the tweets (the core tweet object) on Twitter. From July 2012 to Present (3 years 6 months) San Francisco Bay AreaTechnical Yahoo, Cloud Platform Group @ Engineering Manager (6 months) Tech Lead (7 months) Software Engineer (1 year) In a team of 3 engineers, designed and developed a Hosted Vertical Web Crawler for use within Yahoo. We used Hadoop MapReduce, Pig and Oozie for running the crawl jobs on our own cluster which has distributed crawling queues. Our crawling service is exposed as a REST API which has been implemented using Java Web Services. Other responsibilities: Planning, Designing, Co-ordinating with with Service and Quality Engineering, Working with users. From June 2010 to July 2012 (2 years 2 months) San Francisco Bay AreaResearch Assistant @ Worked with the Entertainment Intelligence Lab at Georgia Tech under Dr. Mark Riedl. Developed a game engine for the iPhone for playing geo-location based games that require people to walk (uses iPhone GPS). A game written for one location can be converted into game for another location using the intelligent browser-based tool that uses map data. From August 2009 to May 2010 (10 months) Greater Atlanta AreaSoftware Engineer Intern @ Worked with EA's Global Online Studio on Blaze, a game server used by several EA games. Worked mainly on the Outbound HTTP component of the server. Added HTTP 1.1 Chunked Transfer Encoding Support to Blaze. Also, integrated libcurl in the out-bound HTTP framework of Blaze to provide full HTTP 1.1 support. All my work was shipped!
