Cate Batson Baril has a Liberal Arts degree from the University of Vermont, from 1990 to 1992. She then transferred to Harvard University, where she earned her Economics degree from 1987 to 1990. She also earned her degree in Foreign Relations from Bard College in 1985.After graduating from Harvard University, Cate worked as an economist at the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission in Washington D.C., from 2009 to 2013. She then served as the Deputy Director at the Center for American Progress, in Washington D.C., from 2013 to 2017. At the Center for American Progress, Cate was responsible forwiching and managing programs that focused on public policy, global affairs, and Latino issues. Aside from her work at the Center for American Progress, Cate has also worked as an editor at the liberal online publication Salon.com, as an opinion columnist for The Huffington Post, and as a contributing opinion writer for The New York Times.
