Carly Wilhelm was born in Missouri-Columbia, Missouri in 1984. She graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2006 with a B.S. in Political Science. While at the University of Missouri-Columbia, Carly Wilhelm also obtained a M.A. in Politics in 2009. Carly Wilhelm then worked as an intern at the House of Representatives’ Chief of Staff’s office from 2009-2011.From 2011-2015, Carly Wilhelm worked as a Political Correspondent for the Associated Press in Washington D.C. While at the Associated Press, Carly Wilhelm had the opportunity to meet andapeople of all political stripes and engage in high-level, behind-the-scenes negotiations. Carly Wilhelm was responsible for writing news reporting from D.C. and traveling to as many as 15 different Congressional districts.In 2015, Carly Wilhelm resigned from her job with the Associated Press to pursue a career in politics.
