Burt Hamner has worked with many different companies throughout his career. He has most recently been working as a Consultant at USAID from 1992-1996. Hamner founded and oversaw Hydrobees SPC Inc. which was a research and engineering company focused on solar and wind power. Hamner also founded and was President of Sustainability CPE Inc. which was a consultancy focused on sustainability. Hamner also resided at Windbase Offshore a company that manufactures and sells wind turbines. Hamner teaches Accounting and Environmental Management at Universidad del Pacifico and also lectureises on environmental management at various universities. Hamner is currently an obesity prevention and treatment assistant professor at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, where he has held the position of department chair since 2007.Hamner has worked in some of the most high-profile and respected institutions in America, earning national recognition for his work in obesity prevention and treatment. Hamner’s work has been featured in media outlets such as Forbes, Shape, and the Huffington Post.Hamner holds a degree in MBA from the University of Washington and a degree in marketing from the University of Washington Michael G. Foster School of Business. Hamner worked as a marketing consultant from 1986 to 1988, shortly after finishing his undergraduate studies at the University of Washington. Hamner then worked as a research scientist at the development company Michael G. Foster from 1988 to 1992, prior tojoining the faculty at the Harvard University history of science department in 1993. There, Hamner completed his undergraduate degree in 1979. Hamner then worked as a graduate student at the Harvard University history of science department from 1993 to 1995, before moving to the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine as an assistant professor in 2007.Hamner’s research focuses on obesity prevention and treatment, specifically through the applications of dietetic strategies and fitness interventions. Hamner is also involved in the development of novel therapies for conditions such as diabetes, osteoporosis, and heart disease. Hamner is currently working on a new therapy for conditions such as obesity,Type 2 diabetes, and post-exercise ankle muscle fatigue.
