While in school, Brian Buehling earned a Master of Science in Systems Systems and Mathematics from Washington University in St. Louis. He then went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Systems Science and Mathematics from Washington University in St. Louis.Brian Buehling has been working in the business world since September of 1994, when he began working as a systems systems analyst for Interscholastic Athletics, a company he later co-founded. By September of 2017, he had moved up to being the company's president. He left Interscholastic Athletics in September of 2022 and started his own business, Brian Buehling & Associates, Inc.

Brian Buehling has been with the technology giant AT&T since 1997, where he worked as a data entry and decision support specialist. From there, he moved on to a role as a publishing system developer at Wolters Kluwer Health. After five years at Wolters Kluwer Health, Buehling returned to AT&T, where he worked as a product content architect. There, he helped design and implement new products, as well as provide consulting services to customers.In 2006, Buehling co-founded Cornerstone Angels, a venture capital firm. From there, he worked as a managing director. Finally, in August 2008, he joined the Ohio University graduate school of engineering as a visiting lecturer. There, he gave lectures on digital imaging and management.
