I like staying busy and making the mental health community better. A farm in Minnesota was a solid place to grow up and learn. Concordia College and UND were great places for college. The University of Minnesota in Minneapolis was a wonderful medical school. The Air Force HPSP program, training, and my initial inpatient faculty position at Wilford Hall Medical Center was outstanding. Being a psychiatry residency training director for 9 years at ETSU was awesome. Speaking for drug companies was fun. Forensic consultation to the Department of Energy and others civil and criminal matters continues to be exciting and 13 years as the Medical Director of the Emotional Health and Recovery Center continues to be rewarding. Teaching has always been central to my mission and I’ve had renewed enthusiasm for David Burns and other powerful cognitive strategies. Consultation to Jamestown Regional Medical Center continues to be fulfilling and I’m particularly excited about my new consulting and regional medical director role with the WestCare Foundation. On the side, I’m a father, husband and for the last 15 years, I’ve developed CareDesign.net. It is (finally) ready and I’m super excited about it. I hope it will change the world and empower mental health professionals everywhere. It is starting as a platform for aggregating therapeutic resources, marketing and professional communications. I’ve also built a "Teachable" (formerly "Fedora") course for assessing patients/clients in such a way that they provide their own assessment documentation. What’s next?…I’ll let you know. Brent R.
