When Bianca Shaw learned she hadARTIST'S DELIGHT syndrome, she was frustrated."I was like, 'What is this? What is wrong with me?'" Shaw says. "I didn't know what an art appreciation class was, or what I needed to do to prepare for an art competition."She was concurrently a full-time student at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas (UNLV) where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing in 2001. But Shaw's frustration mounted when she could not find a way to combine her marketing and art classes.So Shaw turned to the internet, where she found art lessons for people with ARTIST'S DELIGHT syndrome. Shaw was surprised to find that the lessonswork, and that she enjoyed the process of learning about art and history."I found that the more I learned, the more I realized that I had always had this passion for art," Shaw says. "I didn't know it before, but I had always been drawn to art from a young age."Shaw found homes for her art lessons in her free time, and her passion for art grew even more. She started exhibiting her work at local art galleries, and soon realized that her exhibitions sold out.Shaw has since expanded her teaching career beyond her current location. In addition to her online art lessons, Shaw now provides art therapy services to people with ARTIST'S DELIGHT syndrome.
