Benjamin Maisano has a B.S. in Computer Science and Management and Information Systems from University of Connecticut in 2000. Maisano completed his masters in Computer Science, Software Engineering at University of Fairfield in 2009. Maisano's previous education furthered his current interests in the field of information security, enterprise software architecture, internet technical architecture, and web architecture. He began his career as a software engineer at Eastern Data Technologies in 2004. There, he worked on various software projects for the company including developing web applications, hostbased systems, and a content management system. He eventually left Eastern Data Technologies to take a position as an Enterprise Security Architect at American Insurance Solutions in 2006. There, he designed and implemented a number of security systems for the company. Following a year at American Insurance Solutions, Maisano joined Sun Microsystems (now Oracle) as an Architecture Engineer in 2008. There, he developed products such as the Sun Grid Engine and the JavaFX Platform. In 2013, he left Sun Microsystems to take a position as an Associate Professor at the University of Connecticut. There, he teaches a course on Information Security.Maisano has experience in a variety of technical positions. He has worked on software development, architecture, and security for a wide range of companies. At Sun Microsystems, he was also a project manager and lead developer on many high-profile projects. Maisano is also an experienced speaker and has given presentations on a variety of information security topics.
