Born and raised in the town of West Lebanon, New York, Ben Fleschman graduated from high school in 2008 and then studied economics at Syracuse University where he received his B.S. in 2009. After college, he worked for several years in market research for a small wireless provider, before starting his own business in 2011. He then moved to Austin, Texas, where he worked for three years as a sales development representative for a cloud infrastructure and data management company, before becoming a Research Intern at the Hudson Institute in 2016. In 2018, he became a Sales Team Lead at Darktrace, a provider of artificial intelligence technologies that help companies protect their data and systems. He is also a member of the board for the Manhattan Institute, a nonprofit think tank with a focus on social and economic Issues.

Fleschman has many years of experience in the restaurant and food service industry, having been a waitress and dishwasher. After many years spent working in the food service industry, Fleschman has developed a clinical skillset in food and beverage research and development.Fleschman is currently a certified food scientist with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
