As this role involved providing database administration support for a number of local government and defence contracts it was necessary for me to have full security clearance and CRB checks. My role included the following responsibilities: • Proactively monitoring Production and Non-Production databases - avoiding outages wherever possible, and also promptly identifying and resolving issues whenever they arose. • Supporting systems which had SQL Server log-shipping, replication and clustering implemented on them. • Creation of new database objects and altering existing objects. • Creation and ongoing support on SQL Server database maintenance plans • Administering SQL Server access permissions and privileges. • Creation and support of SQL Server 2000 DTS packages. • Participated in Disaster Recovery tests for SQL Server, DB2 and Sybase, successfully recovering all systems and enabling users to test applications. • Installed default and named instances of SQL Server and applied service packs when necessary. • Instrumental in the creation and ongoing maintenance of the DBA documentation repository, which contained a wealth of information that enabled the team to access information relating to customers, and servers. It also contained tips to assist the team with performing database related tasks. • Out of hours support of overnight batch suites. In October 2008 I was TUPE'd to Xchanging. From September 1999 to October 2008 (9 years 2 months) Database Administrator @ Joined Lloyd's of London straight from school and during my time there I held a number of IT position including: 1996 – 1999 Database Administrator - Mainframe DB2, SQL Server and SYBASE. 1990 – 1996 Capacity Planning and Performance Reporting - IBM Mainframe. 1986 – 1990 Operations Analyst - JCL writing and support of batch suites. 1982 – 1986 Computer Operator - IBM MVS mainframe.
