📖 Summary
I have finished an MSc. in Game Software Development at Sheffield Hallam University and finished with an average of 73% and the Sony Computer Entertainment Europe prize. Previously I studied physics, and aquired an MPhys. (2:2) from University of Sheffield. After graduating from the physics degree, I stayed in Sheffield and worked for the River Steward Company (RSC) via the Future Job Fund. My experience there is very positive, and I impressed enough to be kept on part-time during my studies. At the RSC I supported the Health & Safety Officer by familiarising myself with the relevant legislation, and by writing and updating company policy. I also become very involved in the financial management side of the company, and maintain the purchasing system. After a year out of university I returned, this time to Sheffield Hallam to do the MSc. which enabled me to start working for SCEE. To date my proudest non-academic achievements are the two major scripts I wrote for the University of Sheffield Light Entertainment Society (USLES). I was lead writer on Aladdin, and co-writer (with Matt Voice) on a heavily adapted Frankenstein. Specifically, it was very highly rewarding seeing the character of Elizabeth Frankenstein (a very minor character in the book, but a very major character in our adaptation) come to life so vividly the actress playing her was able to take some of the traits in Elizabeth Frankenstein and taking those on in real life! It is immense pleasure to see someone using a character I wrote to improve their life like this. I handle the paperwork around H&S for the company, and do research on methods, accreditations, etc... Being the "support officer" essentially means I'm at the Health & Safety Officer's (Adam Rollitt's) beck-and-call. I put together the CHAS application for the company, which has been accepted after one set of revisions. My other big achievement was writing a Fire Safety Policy from scratch, which is now in place at two sites. From February 2011 to September 2012 (1 year 8 months) Sheffield, United KingdomTSC Senior @ Worked as lighting, sound or audio-visual technician for the Union night clubs and concerts, as well as stage management.
