He was born in 1967 and grew up in the small town of San Giovanni Rotondo, Italy. He received his initial education at the University of Pisa, where he graduated with a degree in business administration in 1991. In 1997, he started his own company, Weathernews America, which he operated for six years. At Weathernews, he played a key role in developing the company into an industry leader. He was the first CEO to be awarded the prestigious Bretton Woods Prize for environment. He has also been awarded the prestigious Peabody Award for excellence in business.
