đź“– Summary
I am a highly motivated and enthusiastic data scientist with proven technical ability. I have over 4 years' experience working with big data and analytics in the healthcare industry. I am passionate about working with data and comfortable using advanced statistical methods to derive insights and unlock solutions to problems that have previously been unanswered. I have extensive experience working with R, Matlab, SQL (PostgreSQL), LaTeX, HTML. I am a very keen learner and am currently studying a course in Machine Learning from Stanford University as part of the coursera initiative (https://www.coursera.org/course/ml). I have also completed the Google Developers python course. I am trained in SixSigma Process Excellence, and have lead teams to implement improvements surrounding data systems. I am a champion of agile methodologies and a Scrum Master to software in development. I have line management experience.Data Scientist @ From August 2015 to Present (5 months) Data Scientist @ Aridhia supports the understanding, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of chronic diseases through the use of biomedical informatics and analytics. I currently work as a data scientist on the data science team. In this role I work closely with clients in a consultant capacity to help them solve their data challenges. I am a line manager and I also manage the building of collateral through various streams to engage with our customers and the data science community. I have delivered the following: * Worked with genomic data to establish links between patient DNA results and known pathogenic regions. * Part of a small team that re-engineered an algorithm to run in 48 mins, down from 16 hours by application of parallel processing. * Developed a series of packages in R. * Developed interactive visualisations and applications using the Shiny framework. * Built up a catalogue of collateral and authored a series of technical tutorials that demonstrate how to use R to analyse open healthcare data and the visualisation of statistics. * Co-authored the story line and analysis for a TEDtalks presentation. From September 2013 to August 2015 (2 years) Data Analyst/Scientist @ Lifescan is a medical device company within Johnson & Johnson specialising in the design and manufacture of blood glucose monitoring strips for people with diabetes. I worked as a data scientist on the algorithms and simulation team, working mainly in product development. In this role I delivered the following: * Investigated error trap thresholds as part of algorithm development for product in development. * Project managed a team to deliver an overhaul of the way we extracted, stored and analysed data. * Developed a library of Matlab code to support work done on large datasets during characterisation and design validation tests. * Designed a GUI to allow team members to apply analysis to standardised experiments. From September 2012 to September 2013 (1 year 1 month) Data Analyst/Assistant Scientist @ In this role I was responsible for organising, extracting, and collating data, carrying out statistical analysis and reporting results in formal reports and presentations to senior management and the team. I designed templates for data input and played an active role in automating, where possible, data entry to reduce manual errors during testing. From September 2011 to September 2012 (1 year 1 month) Bachelor of Science (BSc) Hons, Applied Mathematics, 2:1 @ The University of GlasgowMaster of Science (MSc), Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering @ University of Strathclyde Annie O'Donnell is skilled in: Data Analysis, Matlab, R, Statistics, Data Mining, R&D, Client Facing Skills, SQL, Big Data, Programming, HTML, Visualisation, Healthcare, Project Management, Process Excellence
