Licensing Director, Hard Lines, UK & EMEA @ The integration of the HiT and Mattel Consumer Products teams has given me the opportunity to widen my remit and manage the portfolio of Mattel & HiT brands for EMEA hardlines. Operating more widely within the matrix structure has allowed me to lead a diverse team of in-market managers. I’ve set EMEA priorities and developed by-category strategies, working with the wider team to provide tools to activate. I’ve led a Regional hardlines team in direct management of key Euro partners and directly managed global partnerships where business is driven from Europe. Success so far has been the integration of the teams (HiT, core and emerging Europe) and the re-focusing of the team on the big-picture priorities that will drive long term results. From July 2014 to Present (1 year 6 months) London, United KingdomLicensing Director, Hard Lines, UK & EMEA @ I was brought into the HiT organisation after the Mattel acquisition and the transition has presented opportunities and challenges to accelerate my development within the licensing industry. I have developed a strategic approach to driving the priorities within the Hardlines business as well as to selecting, evaluating and working with our strategic partners in UK, EMEA and Globally. The partner base that we are developing and building as a hard lines team will equip us to support the greater organisation as our properties become increasingly important on the European and Global stage which will, in turn, take the CP business to the next level. I have worked with key partners on the core business as well as identifying key licensees to grow the HiT properties. I have developed my strategic planning competencies as well as seeing these plans through to executional stage with partners. I’ve worked on the core toy business with Fisher Price on line development and business planning. Also, working hand-in-hand with major stakeholders, I have brought together internal groups to enhance content and jointly explore best ways to maximise the overall European opportunity. From November 2012 to July 2014 (1 year 9 months) London, United KingdomSenior Category Manager - Boys Toys and Film @ After working extensively with Disney while at Mattel I joined the CP team managing the European Boys Toys business working with studio and franchise teams to determine the toy opportunities on new properties and franchises, identifying suitable toy partners, pitching, negotiating terms, appointing lead licensees and working with them to develop and deliver a compelling toy line that upheld Disney values and delivered against the property and financial plans. It developed my exceptional interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships across the toy industry as well as creative skills in planning and building product lines and the leadership to drive the strategy through the toy team and countries. From January 2009 to November 2012 (3 years 11 months) London, United KingdomBrand Manager - Hot Wheels (and Entertainment portfolio) @ I headed up the Entertainment business at Mattel managing Cars, PIXAR and Batman ranges among others. This widened my experience with a new dimension of relationship management. As guardian of a Licensors property I required diplomacy as well as creativity to drive the property, range and business in a mutually beneficial way. As Ents and later, Hot Wheels BM, I built up a deep knowledge of media through working in TV, press and online and have extensive media buying experience. In both roles, I worked with external partners to create innovative integrated programmes that were frequently Best Practice. From June 2003 to December 2008 (5 years 7 months)
