Andrew Welzel is an MBA, Finance graduate from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business, where he was a part of the executive team at Sachs & Co, a leading global financial services company. He also holds a degree in Economics from Georgetown University. Andrew Welzel began his career at The University of Chicago Booth School of Business as an Assistant Director in the Finance Department from 1995 to 1998. After four years in this position, he became the Director of Finance from 1998 to 2001. From 2001 to 2007, he was the Dean of the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago. From 2007 to 2016, he was the President and Chief Executive Officer of the University of Chicago.Since his time as Dean of the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago, Andrew Welzel has been considered an expert in the field of finance and has been instrumental in shaping the teaching and learning strategy of the school. In his role at the University of Chicago, he has launched a variety of initiatives which have helped the school become one of the leading hubs of finance education in the United States. These initiatives include the School of MFTE, The Studyinglife MBA Program, and the Executive MBA Program. He has also been instrumental in creating a Campus-Wide consortium of failing banks in order to provide engage mentorship and development opportunities to struggling banks.
