Andrew is co-founder and CEO of NuCivic (formerly Nuams), the open civic platforms company. NuCivic builds, delivers, and supports an eponymous suite of "Open SaaS" civic software solutions for governments and non-profit organizations worldwide. Our mission is to improve the efficacy of civic organizations and governments, by making innovative knowledge management solutions accessible at an affordable cost.
Andrew is also a partner in DrupalSquad, a Drupal "Support as a Service" venture.
Andrew was the first ever Chief Information Officer for the New York State Senate from Jan 2009 - Jan 2011, working to open up the Senate’s legislative and administrative data for public access, overhaul the Senate’s internal communications and collaboration infrastructure, and launch new Web 2.0 / social media technologies for the Senate. Andrew was elected by his peers to serve on the New York State CIO Leadership Council, and selected by GovTech as the 2010 New York State Public Sector CIO of the Year and by Information Week as one of the "Government CIO 50."
Previously, Andrew co-founded the NASA CoLab program to increase efficiency and transparency at NASA by building new partnerships between NASA and external communities of practice.
As an entrepreneur, he previously co-founded and directed business development for GoodStorm (now Zazzle) and Trellon, directed business strategy for CivicSpace Labs (Drupal non-profit), and consulted for Jaiku (now Google), and the Craigslist Foundation.
