• Art Direction, UX & UI solutions for the Product Development Teams From February 2006 to September 2014 (8 years 8 months) London, United KingdomFreelance Graphic Web Designer @ Canvas8 was formed in 2008, and is a London based behavioural insights agency which offers analysis of consumer trends, market research and industry commentary to advertising and branding professionals.
Along with a friend, I was invited to design and code their subscription based website and develop their Branding. Still using the original designs today, Canvas8 have gone from strength to strength, gaining notable clients such as Channel 4, DDB, Freemantle Media and Sony Pictures. From November 2008 to May 2009 (7 months) London, United KingdomFreelance Senior Web Designer @ I worked with WGSN's Editorial & Art Team to layout high fidelity mood boards to be published as seasonal trend reports for WGSN's subscribers.
The process required visually engaging layouts to be created in Photoshop - which would communicate the Seasons trend direction. These pages were then coded in HTML & CSS, then uploaded onto WGSN's Content Management platform. From January 2005 to January 2006 (1 year 1 month) London, United KingdomFreelance Web Designer @ I started my career in Web Design back in 2002, by setting up my own Flash based eCommerce website, selling a range of Men's t-shirts. This ran successfully for a year, with the brand being featured in the editorial sections of GQ & 'Jack' Men's magazines, and product stocked in a successful independent Retailer.
Since then, I gained more web design experience designing & coding many small to medium sized websites on a freelance basis, whilst developing my skills in Layout, HTML, CSS and jQuery. From November 2002 to January 2005 (2 years 3 months) London, United KingdomVideo Editor @ My move to the Creative industry started here, when I was offered a role as Assistant Video Editor in a Soho based Post Production company.
This position enabled me to cut my teeth working for the first time on an Apple Mac, using Video Editing software (Media 100 & After Effects). This was a steep learning curve for me, having decided to finish my career as a number crunching Retail Buyer (although I still love a good spreadsheet!), to realise my ambition working in the Creative industry.
Our key activities were creating 30 second TV adverts, promoting new album and single releases.
Clients included BBC, HMV, MTV and Sony Music, with the adverts being broadcast on both terrestrial and cable TV channels. The adverts would regularly appear on Channel 4 and M-TV.
Additional to the Music adverts, we edited Documentaries, Short films and Corporate videos for various clients. From October 2001 to October 2002 (1 year 1 month) Retail Buyer, Sportswear @ I worked very closely with the Senior Buyer of Harrods Sportswear, buying over 100 product categories of Sports apparel and equipment. We were responsible for a multi-million pound budget, ensuring that our product mix was extensive and specific to our customers needs.
This involved working closely with over 100 global brands such as Polo Ralph Lauren, Nike, Falke, Prada, Adidas and Speedo.
My role included managing logistics, inventory, spending, budgeting, Sale markdowns, achieving budget and departmental profit margins. We also worked very closely with the shop floor, ensuring that the Department managers and Sales staff were supported as closely as possible. From April 1998 to September 2001 (3 years 6 months)
