As a designer with experience founding my own company, doing freelance work, and as a United States Army Paratrooper, I understand, and thrive in, a fast paced environment with an ever-changing landscape.
I have recently completed a ten-week immersive program in User Experience Design at General Assembly in San Francisco. Through the program’s hands-on coursework, I have become well versed in all aspects of the design process as well as familiar with the latest industry standards. For each project, I conducted extensive user research, with a focus on user interviews, surveys, and prototype testing. Based on the research results, I used such tools and techniques as mental models, personas, affinity maps, and user flows, among others, to develop a user-centered perspective.
From this perspective, I created detailed and intuitive user interfaces. I iterated through hand-drawn sketches, low- to medium-fidelity wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, clickable prototypes, and for my final project, a natively coded AngularJS prototype, conducting user testing at each stage. Through this testing, I was able to assess how well I was fulfilling my users’ needs while also addressing the needs of the application’s stakeholders. At the end of each project, I was eager to present my evidence-based solutions to stakeholders, receive their feedback, and substantiate my design decisions as a user advocate.
