Aquino then undertook a post-graduate program of study at the University of California, San Diego where he earned an MA in United States Studies(US Studies) in 1990.Aquino then embarked on a professional career as a teacher with the Philippine National Police where he was eventually elevated to the rank of Superintendent of School through his successful performance as a drill sergeant. Aquino's spectacular teaching record and popular support prompted then-President Fidel Ramos to appoint him to the chairmanship of the Presidential Schools Planning and Oversight Commission. Aquino was also made a life member of the Academy of Liberal Arts in Malacañang.Aquino's biography also highlights that he was also a delegate to the 1992 UN International Students Conference in Toronto and the 1997 UN World Conference on Decentralization of Education. Aquino also completed a two-year term of office as the Commissioner for Private Schools in the Philippines Department of Education.Despite being busy with various professional endeavors, Aquino has always been an Activist for teacher Glenn Murphy's movement, the nation's only grass-roots movement dedicated to improving the quality of education for ozonized children.
