I'm, a professional British boxer, that had a successful boxing career highlighted by winning a silver medal in the 2004 Athens Olympics at the age of 17. This earned me the distinction of being the youngest British Olympic medalist. At the age of 22, I was also the youngest British champion to win the WBA Light Welterweight belt. Also, I earned titles from the Commonwealth and WBO Inter-Continental lightweight divisions.
Born and raised in Bolton, England; I was born into a British Pakistani family and raised as a practicing Muslim. In 2013 I married Faryal Makhdoom, Pakistani-American student, at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City. I was educated at Smithills School in Bolton and Bolton Community College. Boxing is not my only passion. I'm an active supporter of the Muslim Writer's Awards. Also, I enjoy playing sports such as cricket, football, and is a loyal fan of the Bolton Wanderers, a local football club in England.
My boxing career as an Olympic medalist and former two-time world champion - former unified WBA (Super) and IBF Light Welterweight champion has been rewarding. This decorated boxing record and my community involvement propelled me to become the former ambassador to the London Olympics 2012. I have even been featured on popular television shows Proud Parents, ITV's Family Fortunes, and the game show Beat the Star.
I approach charitable efforts as aggressively as my athletic career. This drive to help others motivated me to raise £1 million for victims of various natural disasters. These philanthropic milestones have been well respected. In fact, at the launch dinner of the Amir Khan Foundation we raised £218,000 from the 500 distinguished guests, celebrities, and athletes. This was a memorable event at the Hilton Deansgate hotel in Manchester.
I continue to gain exposure and strive to build awareness for charity. As a boxer my battle for good in all arenas of humanity continues to be fought in different parts of the world.Professional Boxing @ I am a professional boxer and with impressive professional fight record.
