💼 Past Experience

After graduating from college in 2013, I stayed active in my community and worked as a scribe and medical assistant (MA) for 3 pulmonary doctors for a year. I quickly discovered my passion for working with patients, and found myself in the perfect position to use my skills to helpGalvanize Inc. as a software engineer in Residence. There, I played a pivotal role in teaching students how to code with JavaScript, Node.js, MongoDB, SQL databases, and more. I also led many workshops on JavaScript, spoke at alumni panels, and mentored students on how to be excellent coders. Additionally, I continue to be involved in my community, working as a critical witness protection officer for preventative care programs andserving as the education & crafts consultant for a homeless shelter.These experiences have taught me to be the first to know and the last to forget, and to always aim to give back to the community I have participated in. I am passionate about helping others and I hope to continue to make a difference in the lives of those I interact with.

🎓 Education

Since she started working as a software engineer, Amanda Post has enjoyed the challenge of learning new technologies. She has enrolled in a JavaScript-focused software engineering immersive program at Hack Reactor, where she learned how to develop software applications using the JavaScript language. Additionally, she completed a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences with a focus on Anatomy & Physiology from California Polytechnic State University- San Luis Obispo in 2017. Post also holds a high school diploma from Long Beach Polytechnic High School.Post's experience as a software engineer has given her the skills to work with a variety of software applications. She has been able to use her skills to develop software for a number of businesses, including NEC Corporation and SpaceX. She is also satisfied with her work readiness, having completed many challenges and projects that have prepared her for future work.

💡 Technical & Interpersonal Skills

My experience as a scribe and medical assistant has given me a deep understanding of the patient journey. In my work as a scribe, I interacted with patients from all walks of life, from the IV Drip Patient, to the Elderly Patient, and from the Insurance Claim Processor. This gave me a unique insight into the patient experience that I would not have been able to find anywhere else. My experience as a medical assistant also gave me the opportunity to learn about various software tools and technologies that I could use in the future. I chose to work as a software engineer in research at Galvanize because I was excited by the possibilities that the field of software engineering offers. Through my work at Galvanize, I was able to teach students how to code and develop software tools. I also helped mentor students on how to be excellent coders and team members. My goals as a scribe and medical assistant are to use my knowledge of the patient experience to help others in their own lives. I am hoping to use my experience as a scribe and medical assistant to help people with cancer, heart disease, or any other medical issue.
