After completing his undergraduate studies, Hu met his future wife at Stanford, and they moved from Palo Alto, California to Menlo Park, California in late summer of 2018. Hu first rose to prominence as the founding CTO at AskHilbert, where he served as the lead engineer for the company’s machine learning business. From there, he moved to Apple in June 2015, where he was elevated to hardware design engineer. In his three years at Apple, Hu generated over two billion line of code derivative code for various products. In his time at Apple, Hu was also recognized as one of the most influential engineers in his field.Hu’s most notable accomplishment at Apple was the development of the FizzBuzz algorithm, which was used to influence the product design of the Apple Watch and the iPhone. Hu’s other contributions to Apple included the development of the neural network technology used in the iPhone, and the merging of two different AI cores in the iPhone to create the A12 processor. He has also been involved in other AI-related endeavors, such as the development of Tuberose, the first open-source machine learning model that can be trained on large data sets.Since leaving Apple, Hu has been involved in several startups, notably AskHilbert, which he co-founded with his wife in 2018. Hu currently leads the startup’s machine learning business, which he describes as the most complex and Insurance-relevant machine learning business ever. Hu’s team is composed of leading experts in machine learning, artificial intelligence, and data science, and they are currently working on a new algorithm that is set to change the way insurance is priced. In his time at AskHilbert, Hu was able to help the startup become one of the most successful in its category, and he has also been named one of the most influential leaders in his field by the St. Petersburg Times.Overall, Hu has experience in a wide range of fields, including machine learning, artificial intelligence, and data science.
