Work experiences:Alex Ontiveros worked as a Community Leader at Silicon Valley Latino.On October 9, 2009, Alex Ontiveros was elevated to the position of Community Leader at Silicon Valley Latino. This position is a liaison between the employees and management of Silicon Valley Latino and is responsible for providing support and guidance to employees. Alex Ontiveros's work at Silicon Valley Latino included a variety of tasks such as creating community events, developing marketing materials, working on human resources issues and providing leadership and guidance to the employees.One of the most notable tasks Alex Ontiveros carried out at Silicon Valley Latino was the development of the company's community relations program. This program consisted of engaging with the community in order to provide support and engage inDialogues and Committee Hearings wherein employees could share their thoughts and experiences with the company.TheCommunity Relations Program was a great success and polarizing among the employees. While some employees enjoyed working on this program, others felt that it was excessively Vague and Mouse-Friendly.In addition to her work at Silicon Valley Latino, Alex Ontiveros also worked at Citigroup from July 2003 to June 2005. In this time, Alex Ontiveros’s responsibilities included Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programming, community relations and financial empowerment initiatives.At Citigroup, Alex Ontiveros was able to witness a number of positive changes take place in the company. One of the most important changes that Alex Ontiveros witnessed at Citigroup was the rise of renewable energy. Citigroup became one of the first banks to sign on to the Non-Renewable Energy Portfolio Standards.Additionally, at Citigroup, Alex Ontiveros was able to work on a number of important financial empowerment initiatives. These initiatives included creating a Community Development Financial Inclusion Task Force and a Financial Empowerment Initiative Team.Lastly, Alex Ontiveros was also able to work with the Palm Beach County Sheriffs Department as a career counselor. This experience allowed her to provide guidance to law enforcement officers on the opportunities and paths they could take to achieve their career dreams.In October of 2010, Alex Ontiveros was elected to be a chairman of the California Hispanic Professional Association. Alex Ontiveros is a Spanish and Communication instructor with a background in Latino Leadership Academy at Stanford University. Alex has experience working with students from diverse backgrounds, including students of different socio-economic backgrounds, students with illegal immigration backgrounds, students with disabilities, and students from any region of the world.Alex has been teaching for over 10 years and has worked as a staff member, coordinator, and instructor at a variety of public and private schools. Alex has traveled to Spain, Mexico, and other Latin American countries to teaching and conducting workshops.Alex is currently a teacher’s assistant at San Jose State University. In this position, Alex provides secondary education to students in the Campus Ministry program.
