Sovereign Wealth Funds, Hedge, PE and Infrastructure Funds, Asset mangers, and Vendors) across a very wide range of topics. From June 2014 to Present (1 year 7 months) Consultant @ Helping the Investment Solutions business evaluate ways to enhance portfolio optimisation and construction toolkit globally across the full breadth of multi-assets (Multi-Manager, GTAA, DGF’s , FoF Hedge Funds and Pan-Alts, including Illiquid’s). From November 2014 to March 2015 (5 months) London, United KingdomChief Investment Officer @ My remit at LPFA was to help build up the business based on the c. £5 billion multi-asset fund into a centre of excellence. The goal was to make the organisation best-in-class at managing investments, understanding and mitigating investment risk and managing liabilities, with the aspiration of making LPFA a serious player. The funds asset mix is very diverse, ranging from public equities (passive, synthetic and active), debt (government, corporate and alternative), through total & absolute return products, to discretionary and pooled investments in property, private equity, infrastructure and commodities. Overlaid on this are hedges to mitigate unrewarded risks (primarily rates, inflation and fx). Key performance achievements 12% for 2013 full year on c. £4.8 Bn of assets, 5% ahead of the target return of 7% (14% allowing for 3 month lag in PE pricing). Q1 2014 performance 1% ahead of a balanced fund. Achieved at a significantly higher Sharpe Ratio (2.14 vs 1.55) & lower risk compared to a balanced fund (vol of 5.3% vs 7.4%, Max drawdown of -1.8% vs -2.9%) Reduced the pension fund time for full funding from 18yrs to 15yrs, while improving the funding ratio of the c. £8 Bn of risk free liabilities. Saved the fund c. 6% through crystallising the rates hedge at a profit and avoiding the purchase of puts on the equities.
