Im a twenty-something-year-old with a god to honest passion for all things tech! But i really love programming stuff, closely followed by a good old rummage around anything *NIX based.
Software Engineer @ I am a full stack developer working to develop both front end and backend systems with a particular focus on security whilst completely rebuilding most of the core products within the company.
Originally this was a purely developer driven role, but given my experience with networked system and general UNIX administration my role is now slightly focused towards dev ops (Docker,ESXI,*NIX). As such i understand the entire development, deployment and maintenance(Joy!) cycle.
My core programming languages are JAVA(Spring, gradle), PHP(Zendframework2, larval, symphony 2) ,C# (Servicestack, mono) & Javascript(Nodejs and io) on the backend, on the front end CSS 3 >(Bootstrap, LESS), HTML 5 > , Javascript (Angularjs, Jquery, D3).
By preference i use Atlasssian software for full project planning through to the deployment lifecycle, JIRA and STASH through to BAMBOO for CI and deployments. This stems from professional usage and experience, Plus for individuals its darn cheap.
I have a lot of experience in Windows, Linux(Debian, Centos), BSD(Freebsd) and OS X, By preference i use OS X for my day to day development as well as my personal tinkering. As such I'm very happy in a command line driven enviroment and i love a good shell script, echo "Bash Me Up Scotty" > beamed.txt.
More recently i have been focusing on emerging technologies such as docker, i have been responsible in part for the infastructure behind a lot of our new projects and as such i have achieved a very firm understanding of the software and appliances behind large scale deployments. But the most exciting new development for myself seems to be docker, I can see it becoming massive within the next few years and the current incumbents have a lot to be scared about.
Beyond the usual e word competitions, I just love to tinker. Ive used a lot of different programming languages but not to a level that i would say merits commercial application. Python(Django), Ruby(Puppet Cookbooks and Recipes, Rails) and Perl.
