Alana Branston's education has included economics and international development/policy courses at Wake Forest University. Branston completed her undergraduate degree in economics from Wake Forest University in 2009. After completing her education, Branston clerked in the Pentagon during the George W. Bush administration. She then worked as an economist at The World Bank from 2009 to 2013. From 2013 to 2016, Branston worked as an economic analyst for the Broadcasting Board of Governors,where she provided independent analysis of the global television broadcaster. Since joining the Federal government, Branston has served as the Chief Economist at the Social and Economic Research Branch of the Office of Management and Budget. presently she leads the work on The National Income and Wealth Estimates and issues reports on the Budget, economic indicators, as well as Chairing the Budget Research Panel.
