From May 2010 to July 2010 (3 months) Evanston, IllinoisUndergraduate Researcher, Fisher Lab (MechE) @ Birck Nanotechnology Center, Purdue University I worked on the synthesis of substrate-contiguous carbon nano-sheets by Microwave Plasma Enhanced CVD. I also obtained clean room experience in the fabrication of micro-scale Si trenches using photo-lithography. This resulted in a publication, "Contiguous Petal-like Carbon Nanosheet Outgrowths from Graphite Fibers by Plasma CVD" ACS Appl. Mater. Interfaces, 2, 644–648 (2010). From June 2009 to August 2009 (3 months) West Lafayette, IndianaGraduate Researcher @ Stanford University I got my PhD in the Nanoscale Heat Transport group, under the mentorship of Prof. Ken Goodson. My research interests lie at the intersection of nano-thermal transport & energy conversion, nano-electronics, and fundamental materials science. My work seeks to uncover the relationships between material micro structure and thermal transport - specific material systems include two-dimensional van der Waals layered systems, polycrystals, and superlattices. I have extensive experimental expertise in ultrafast optical pump-probe techniques, electrochemistry, and materials characterization. Theoretical expertise includes fundamental phonon-transport modeling using the Boltzmann transport approach. From September 2011 to September 2017 (6 years 1 month) Stanford, CaliforniaSummer Research Fellow (Indian Academy of Sciences award), Govindarajan Lab @ Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, Banaglore I developed phenomenological models to understand friction at the nanoscale, based on statistical mechanics arguments. I explored the extension of these models to the case of elastomeric solids that exhibit viscous damping and shear flow at asperities. From May 2008 to August 2008 (4 months) Bangalore, India
