I am a software engineer with a wide variety of experiences. Currently, I am senior software engineer at EMC advanced technology division, working on OpenStack related products. Previously, at Huawei, I worked developing a content distribution network based on OpenFlow. For this, we used Open vSwitch and Floodlight. In general, my research interests are in networking, I am mostly interested in routing and transport in large scale and intermittently connected networks. I have had the chance to gain a great deal of both practical and theoretical experience in networking while working here. I have contributed to the MobilityFirst project where we are developing a clean slate architecture for the future Internet. For this project, I have developed routing and transport algorithms and simulated them on NS3 using C++ and python. I am also involved with the TerraPIN project where we are to designing a content sharing system based on Android phones using Java. The backend for this system is in PHP and SQLite. We are going to release the app in the market soon and will make RESTful APIs for the backend public.
Earlier, I have worked as a test engineer with Microsoft IT India. There I used to work with test automation technologies on the .Net platform using C# and SQL Server.
Specialties: Software defined networking, networking and distributed systems, mobile development, data center networking
Senior Software Engineer @ After Cloudscaling acquisition From October 2014 to Present (1 year 3 months) San Francisco Bay AreaSoftware Engineer @ I do everything that needs to be done to make things "better", in some given sense. From June 2013 to October 2014 (1 year 5 months) San FranciscoResearch Intern @ Designed and implemented an Information Centric Network based on OpenFlow, prototyped using Open vSwitch and Floodlight (as the controller). This network supports on demand caching as a basic functionality and can be transparently inserted in any infrastructure. Later, we investigated a novel way of doing content aware traffic engineering in an ICN. From June 2012 to December 2012 (7 months) Graduate Assistant @ MobilityFirst (August 2010 - May 2012):
This is a NSF sponsored future Internet architecture project where we are designed a clean-slate architecture for the future Internet. I am responsible for intra domain routing and transport architecture. We use C++ and Python code on NS3 to evaluate our design. This work has resulted in two paper publications and one poster.
TerraPIN (January 2012 - present):
We are building a smart content distribution system based on smart phones. We have built a prototype on Android with the backend on PHP and SQLite. More recently, we are investigating how people perceive the tradeoff between content sharing and privacy on mobile platforms. From September 2010 to June 2012 (1 year 10 months) Software Test Engineer @ I was involved with a project where we re-designed Microsoft's existing product distribution system to make it more scaleable. The system was implemented on .Net and SQL Server using C#. As a part of the test team, I was responsible for manual and automated testing of some key components of the system. I designed and developed a test harness based on Visual Studio 2010 and some of Microsoft's internal tools. From August 2008 to September 2010 (2 years 2 months) Hyderabad Area, India
